First steps
You may notice in your baby’s first few weeks of life that they tend to dangle their legs and push against a surface when held upright – but this is just a temporary reflex which usually doesn’t last after two months or so and does not mean your baby is ready to walk just yet!

After about five months old, if you let your baby balance his feet on your thighs they will bounce up and down. Bouncing will become a favourite activity over the next couple of months as your child’s leg muscles gradually develop while they master the art of rolling over, sitting, and crawling.
When your baby is about eight months old they will start using furniture to prop themselves up and move about the room. At first, they will be hanging on for dear life. The more practice they get, the better they will become and will start moving about easily. Not long after this stage your baby will start to learn how to bend their knees and how to sit after standing (which is not as easy as you imagine!).
By eleven months your baby will probably have mastered standing solo, stooping, and squatting. He may even walk while gripping your hand, though he probably won't take his first steps alone for at least a few more weeks. Most children make those early strides on tiptoe with their feet turned outward.
At 13 months, three quarters of toddlers are walking on their own -- albeit unsteadily. If yours still hasn't stopped cruising, it just means walking on his own is going to take a little longer. Some children don't walk until 16 or 17 months or even later.
At Pre Shoes we have a wide range of baby shoes made with soft leather and a soft-suede sole - making them perfect shoes for learning to walk.
